Volunteers are the real heart behind Habitat for Humanity. Each year, hundreds of volunteers lend a hand to build and rehabilitate homes with us right here in our community. Whether you’re a skilled builder or have never picked up a hammer, volunteering at the Habitat build site will be a life-changing experience for you and for our homeowners. Sponsor a project, bring a group, or come on your own. We can’t do it without you.

Join our construction volunteers on Thursdays, Fridays, or Saturdays to work in all aspects of home construction as part of a team. The day begins with sign-in at 8 a.m. and typically ends around 3:00 p.m.   Don’t worry if you’re inexperienced. Our work sites are supervised by skilled Habitat construction staff members who are on hand to give you instructions and assistance. You’ll work side-by-side with the family whose home you are helping to build and will be amazed at how much you’ll learn in a single day!

Working on a Habitat construction site is a great way to build a solid team, improve communication, and develop strong bonds that will last long after the sun has set.

Your commitment of 10 volunteers will make a huge impact in helping a local family to build a bright future. Workdays are from 8 am – 3:00 pm and volunteers are requested to make a full-day commitment. To register your group or to get more information, please contact Alaina at the Habitat office 530.343.7423 or email info@buttehabitat.org

Kids want to help?

We love kids and know that community service is one of the best ways for them to learn about the world. In order to make sure that they are safe, we have  set some limits on the ages of kids on the build site and what kind of work they can do.

Kids ages 16 or 17 can work on site on regular work days as long as their parents or guardians sign a Waiver for Minors but cannot use power tools. Kids under 16 can’t be on the build site when there are power tools present.

Or…give us a call to check on the next Youth Build day for the current build season. We arrange these days to accommodate our young friends who wish to lend a hand. On these days we do landscaping, painting, cleaning, etc.
