Building Dreams: Our First Subdivision Project
Habitat for Humanity of Butte County is proud to announce a groundbreaking milestone in our mission to provide affordable homeownership opportunities throughout our community. We are in the process of developing our first-ever subdivision project in Chico—a transformative initiative that will directly impact the lives of 17 community members: six adults and 11 children who will transition from uncertain housing situations to the security of homeownership. This pioneering project features several key benefits:
- Five new homes creating a cohesive neighborhood environment
- Affordable mortgages with low interest rates for sustainable monthly payments
- Homeownership opportunities for families otherwise priced out of Chico’s market
- Lasting connections between Habitat families within their new community
- Establishment of deep roots in the broader Chico community
This subdivision represents a significant expansion of our impact model, with ripple effects extending far beyond these five families. Children will attend local schools, families will shop at local businesses, and each household will contribute to the economic vitality of our region. Studies consistently show that stable housing leads to improved educational outcomes for children, better health results for entire families, and increased economic mobility across generations. This project exemplifies what becomes possible when community partners, volunteers, donors, and local government work together toward a common goal, representing the collective commitment of Butte County residents who believe that everyone deserves a decent, affordable place to call home.
Paradise, CA.
Thanks to the Rebuild Paradise Foundation’s Residential Floor Plan Library, the community has access to low-cost residential floor plans. Typical floor plans used by Habitat include a 960 square foot 2 bedroom/2 bath, and a 1,120 square foot 3 bedroom/2bath.
